Modern Man

The Modern Man

I believe that to be a Modern Man, we must look to the past. A Modern Man has the same core principles that manliness has always held, only they are applied to a new setting. Traits such as being honest, doing the right thing, protecting those you love, and fixing wrong-doing are all still applicable to today’s world. The only difference is there are now slight nuances to navigate, such as cell phone etiquette, evolving gender roles, and new styles and expectations to meet. However, I believe the Modern Man is himself. He works to improve on his weaknesses, embraces his strengths, and always does the right thing. Beyond that, everything is just a preference. It is okay if the Modern Man is the homemaker, takes care of the kids, and does the cooking if his partner brings home the bacon. Or the reverse is just fine as well. I believe sticking to your core tenants is the one universal factor. Beyond that, the possibilities are open.

Being a man today means sticking to your core and pursuing whatever is true to yourself. You must always be respectful and honest, both to yourself and others. Courage is a tenant that is necessary to do this. You need courage to make your life what you want it to be. Working towards the life you want for you and your loved ones is key.

As Calvin Coolidge once said, “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” -Calvin Coolidge (1872 – 1933)

This is a section where I will share thought provoking ideas, old time ideals, experiences or opportunities and lifestyle products I enjoy. Part of being a Modern Man is being yourself, and that means that each and every one of us will have our own unique preferences and tastes; please be respectful and share your thoughts and comments with us below!

Yours truly,

Nic
